When our customers suggest to us new feature ideas or tweaks that will help them to get their work done faster, we take note. Here are some of the things you asked for that are now built into Drawboard PDF.
Drawboard

At Drawboard PDF, we take pride in delivering the tools, features and functionality that truly meet the needs of our customers. We are a PDF collaboration tool; collaboration is at the core of what we do. And collaboration with our customers is no exception. Our customers play a key role in the development of the tools and features on Drawboard PDF.

When our customers suggest to us new feature ideas or tweaks that will help them to get their work done faster, we listen and we deliver.

In other words: you ask, we build.

Our engineers see every single suggestion that our customers make to improve Drawboard PDF. Whether it’s a small UI tweak to help them to get a simple task done quicker or the introduction of an entirely new tool or feature, every idea is heard. And more often than not, these ideas get added to the product roadmap and can be seen and used in-app in a matter of months if not weeks.

Let's dive into some of the things you asked for that are now built into Drawboard PDF:

You asked:

“Can we have the option to pop out a window and have two active Drawboard instances?” - Karl, Drawboard PDF user
“It would be wonderful if i was able to open 2 pdfs on the screen. since I can't open 2 [separate] windows - it would be convenient to be able to split the pdfs in the app. This way I won't have to keep switching tabs to look at 2 different pdfs. It would be a great feature to be able to have 2 pdfs visible on my screen - whether through a new window or being able to split the tabs in app.”- Paavanee, Drawboard PDF user

We built our Multi-Window feature:

We implemented the capability to open multiple windows in Drawboard PDF to enable users to view and markup multiple PDFs side-by-side. This was potentially our most requested feature ever.

With Multi-window, you can view multiple documents, or parts of the same document at the same time. Not just view, but access your entire toolset too. This feature is designed for anyone who needs to quickly switch between version 1 and revision 2 of a document, view questions and answers, handouts and notes, contract revisions and more.

You asked:

“Would be great if there was a way to copy a page of one document with its annotations into another pdf file in a tool kind of like document builder. Or even save 1 page out of a pdf as an individual Really enjoying the beta programme” - Harvey, Drawboard PDF user
“Allow pages to be deleted in a document without having to create a new document in document builder.” - Ed, Drawboard PDF user

We built flexible page manipulation into the canvas view:

We redesigned the pages panel on the canvas to enable users to perform a range of page manipulation actions directly from the canvas. These actions include the ability to extract individual or multiple pages, delete pages, copy pages with or without annotations and paste them within and between your documents and more.

You asked:

“Have a button visible for document builder so it is easy to find.” - Ed, Drawboard PDF user

We added a Document Builder icon to the top menu:

As part of our redesign of the Document Builder interface, we added an icon at the left of the top menu which is always visible in the app from the canvas and dashboard.

You asked:

“I would like to be able to create custom stamps/shapes that I can select to easily place on drawings.  eg a speaker, mic, camera, display icons.” - Nathan, Drawboard PDF user

We built Markup Library:

We implemented Markup Library into Drawboard PDF to enable users to save and store regularly used annotations so that they can quickly access and insert them on any document at any time. The Markup Library is like a personalized storage vault for annotations you want to use over and over again.

You asked:

“I use this program all the time for presenting solutions and notes to my students. It would mean so much if there was the ability to bold, italicize, and underline using text boxes so I didn't have to highlight keywords or ideas. This would also help with visual separation of definitions and ideas.” - Aaron, Drawboard PDF user
“Text insert should be able to customize font” Nattapakorn, Drawboard PDF user

We built the ability to customize text styling on text annotations:

On the Windows app, we added new styling capabilities to text annotations that enable users to customize their text in various ways. Users can bold, italicize, strikethrough and underline text. They can select from a range of fonts for their text annotations, as well as change the alignment of their text and more.

You asked:

“A couple of improvements or tools I would suggest adding are a pencil/line to shape tool, being drawing a line with the pencil tool and the program recognizes that as a line instead of having to choose the line tool every time a line is needed. This would help majorly in the aspect of engineering in my opinion. The second suggestion I would make is have an audio recording tool…” - Gavin, Drawboard PDF user

We built smart Ink-to-line and Ink-to-shape and Audio notes:

We built smart ink to line and shape recognition into the Windows app. Ink-to-line enables you to transform your freehand pen lines into neat straight lines by simply drawing and holding with your stylus, mouse or finger. And smart ink-to-shape recognition enables you to transform your freehand shapes into perfect polygons. Using your finger or stylus you can create a perfect square, circle, triangle, pentagon or hexagon simply by drawing and holding.

We also added Audio Notes to the Windows, iOS and Mac apps. Users can record a voice note or upload a sound file and pin it anywhere on their PDFs and listen back at any time.

These examples are just to name a few! There have been so many great suggestions made by our customers that have shaped how the product is today.

If you have a suggestion for improving the app, we’d love to hear from you. Using the Windows app and want to make a suggestion? Head to the scholar’s hat at the bottom left of your canvas and tap Make a suggestion at any time. You can also email us at ask@drawboard.com.
