Hide your controls for more canvas visibility

Build a workspace that works for you.. Need an unobstructed view of your documents? You can hide controls on your canvas including the page indicator, zoom controls, undo and redo controls and the left-hand-side menu. Toggle these controls on and off from the View and layout tab under Settings.

Change the sensitivity of your ink

On the Windows app you can change the sensitivity level of your ink. 

Increased sensitivity means that a firmer pen pressure will produce a thicker ink stroke and lighter pressure will produce a thinner ink stroke. While low sensitivity means that the ink thickness remains more-or-less consistent regardless of the pressure applied.

To change the sensitivity level of your ink, in the pen properties, simply slide the Ink Pressure slider to the left to reduce sensitivity and to the right to increase sensitivity.

Copy and paste images from other apps onto your PDFs

Need to add images to your PDF documents? With Drawboard PDF you can copy and paste images from other apps and from webpages into your PDFs. No need to save an image and then upload it to Drawboard PDF. Simple copy and paste it onto your canvas. You can also easily drag and drop images from your desktop onto your PDF documents. Easy! 

Set up your hyperlinks to suit the way you work

On Drawboard PDF you can change your link settings to suit your specific needs. By default when clicking on a hyperlink, a pop up with link options will appear. Want your hyperlinks to click through instantly? You can update the settings of your hyperlinks to fit the behavior that you would like. If you would like your hyperlinks to go straight to their destination when clicked, simply select the hyperlink tool and then tap the hyperlink you would like to edit. Then tap the Settings cog and select Go to link (next to Click).

Create your own custom shortcuts

Work faster with custom keyboard shortcuts. Tailor your workflow to how you work best by setting your own personalized hotkeys. Save time, memory and finger strain. To access your shortcuts head to the scholar’s hat and then tap Keyboard shortcuts. On Windows you can find the scholars hat at the bottom of the left-hand-side menu on your canvas. On the Mac and web apps, you can find it at the right of the top menu.

Search what you want to find the tools you need

Find the exact tools you need to get the job done. Search the toolbar by category, or by varying names of the tool you’re looking for. Want to view all of the measurement tools? Type ‘measurement’. Want to see what reviewing tools are available to you? Type ‘review’. Find what you need, when you need it, fast!

Set what happens when you double tap the canvas

Using a stylus or your finger to work with PDFs? Work faster by tailoring your settings to how you work best. Select between do nothing, open menu where I tap, zoom on tapped object and create a new bookmark when you double tap your screen. In the Windows app head to Settings > touch > When I double tap to change what happens when you double tap the canvas using your styles or finger.

Use the radial menu

The radial menu contains every tool you need in a floating circular display that you can conveniently hide and make appear as you need. To use the radial menu, head to Settings > View & layout > Use radial menu. Check out our support article to learn more about the radial menu.

View your documents with the colors inverted

Want to view a document with the colors inverted? On the Windows and iOS and Mac apps you can invert the colors on your canvas (including your document and markup tools). On the Windows app head to settings > View & Layout > Invert mode. On the iOS and Mac apps tap your Profile in the top left of the dashboard > Annotations & Layout > Page color mode > Inverted. You can also access this feature directly from your canvas by clicking the page Icon in the bottom right corner >

Use your own custom PDF templates

With Custom Templates you can create new documents or designs with your own customized page backgrounds to speed up your workflow. To add your own custom page templates to your canvas, go to Settings > Templates. Your templates library is the perfect place to keep forms, digital planners or invoices for quick retrieval. Available to all Pro plan users on the Windows and Web.

Snap to… embedded PDF content

On the web app, your annotations snap to embedded PDF content on your canvas. Work in the AEC industries? Content snapping means that you can snap your callout pointers to sections of drawing with precision so that what you’re pointing to is completely clear and obvious to all project contributors. You can also take measurements with absolute precision. Check drawings for accuracy with speed and precision. Designed for AEC and useful to everyone.

Use Ink to Line and Ink to Shape

With smart ink, you can create perfect shapes and lines using free-hand ink! Transform your freehand shapes into perfect polygons and your freehand lines into perfectly straight lines by simply drawing and holding with your finger or stylus. Tap the 3 dots on your pen tool to toggle Ink to Shape and Ink to Line on and off. This feature is available to all Pro plan users on the Windows app.
