Keep your team aligned and mistakes minimal with stacked document revisions that make the latest version the default while keeping every past revision preserved and accessible.
Alistair Michener

Drawboard Projects already keeps your drawings organized in stacked revisions so the team always opens the right set. Now that same clarity is available for your project documents, too.

With document uploads and revision control in the Documents tab, you can keep every version of your core documentation stacked while the latest revision automatically becomes the one your team opens.

Document revisions make it easier to control your version history and keep your project files aligned with the rest of your review workflow, avoiding mistakes and streamlining progress.

How to upload new documents and revisions

You can upload new documents directly from the project’s Documents tab:

  1. Select ‘New document’, then ‘Upload documents.’
  2. Choose the file from your device, or drag and drop a file into the window (up to 500MB), then select ‘Process.’
  3. After your file(s) process, select ‘Review & Publish’ to open the publishing interface.
  4. Choose whether this is a new document or a revision.
  5. If it’s a new document, set the document Name, optional Number, and starting Revision. You can also add tags for easier navigation.
  6. Click ‘Publish all’ and the file appears in your list with those details attached.

When a document changes, you add a new revision instead of creating another copy.

  • Use the ‘More (…)’ menu to choose ‘Add revision,’ or drag the updated file straight onto that document’s row.
  • Drawboard Projects automatically inherits the document name and number, and you simply confirm or adjust the revision identifier.
  • Publishing the update makes this revision the default, while older versions remain available in the viewer. All previous markups stay tied to the revision they came from.

This is the same revision handling Projects already uses for drawings, now extended to every type of project document.

Why document revisions in Drawboard Projects matter

A structured revision flow for documents gives your whole team more confidence in what they are reviewing and approving. It reduces ambiguity, creates a reliable record of what changed and when, and keeps your administrative workload lower by eliminating duplicate files and scattered uploads.

That means:

  • Your team always opens the latest version: The newest revision becomes the default, reducing mistakes caused by outdated reports or specifications.
  • All history stays organised in one place: Each document has a single identity with a stack of revisions behind it, keeping past versions accessible without clutter.
  • Markups stay linked to the correct revision: Comments and approvals remain attached to the version they relate to, supporting clearer reviews and better record keeping.

New document revisions in Drawboard Projects bring consistency to your project files, not just the drawings. Whether you're managing specifications, reports, safety forms, or meeting records, everything now follows the same predictable pattern: upload once, revise cleanly, and keep all history in one place.
